El-Rufai Denies Claim on 2027 Presidency Zoning

Former Kaduna state Governor, Nasir El- Rufai

Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has dismissed false reports circulating on social media alleging that he declared which region should produce Nigeria’s president in 2027.

The viral claims suggested that the African Democratic Congress chieftain said it was the South’s turn to produce the next president and that he was backing Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, over former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

El-Rufai In a statement issued on Monday via his official X handle, described the report as untrue, insisting that he never made such remarks in any speech, media interview, or on his verified social media platforms.

He also cautioned against attributing opinions to him based on articles written by other authors, noting that sharing such materials does not amount to endorsement or personal commentary.

El-Rufai further urged journalists and the public to verify information before publishing or sharing it, warning that the spread of fake news undermines responsible political discourse and public trust.
