Plateau Liaison Director Commends Tinubu’s support for state policing

Hon. Ziphon John Chrysanthus has commended Bola Ahmed Tinubu for demonstrating political will toward the establishment of state policing, describing the move as a significant step toward addressing Nigeria’s growing security challenges.

Chrysanthus, who serves as the Liaison Director for Plateau State, made the remarks in a statement made available to journalists, where he noted that the increasing security concerns across different parts of the country require innovative and decentralized approaches that allow states to play more active roles in safeguarding lives and property.

According to him, the president’s openness to discussions on state policing reflects a forward-looking leadership style and a commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture.

He explained that the introduction of state policing would enhance community-based intelligence gathering, improve rapid responses to security threats, and encourage closer collaboration between security agencies and local communities.

Chrysanthus further stated that Nigeria’s current security realities demand reforms that would enable state governments to complement the efforts of federal security institutions.

“State policing has become a necessary step in addressing the complex security challenges facing our country. I commend President Tinubu for supporting conversations that could lead to meaningful reforms,” he said.

He also expressed optimism that with appropriate legislative frameworks, effective oversight, and strong accountability mechanisms, state policing could significantly improve safety and stability across the country.
